Reflection Question: Jesus prayed, ‘My prayer is not for the world, but for those You have given me; because they belong to you.’  How does belonging to Jesus impact your life? Do others see that you belong to him?

Reflection Question: The Master told the disciples that they would soon be scattered and would experience testing and sorrow.  When you consider your own journey as a disciple, how does the fact that Jesus has overcome the world that tests give you strength?  In what way?

Reflection Question: Jesus calls himself the true grapevine and states that he prunes the branches that bear fruit so that they bear more fruit.  Where have you felt that pruning in your life?

March 19 - John 14

Reflection Question: Jesus tells the disciples that anyone who believes in him will do the same works he has done.  (V 12) Prayerfully consider those words.  Could Jesus be asking you to do something you have never considered?  Where could you bring his light?

Reflection Question: Jesus would soon be betrayed and most of his disciples were about to run and hide in fear, deserting Him.  Yet, we read that he loved his disciples.  When has there been a time that you received God’s forgiveness in spite of your betrayal?

Reflection Question: Judas had been with Jesus.  He had heard Jesus’ teachings.  He had witnessed Jesus’ miracles.  Yet, he was influenced by the devil and betrayed Jesus.  When have you had doubts in your faith?

Reflection Question: Jesus’ friends Lazarus, Mary, and Martha and their story were a display of God’s glory.  Think of a close spiritual friend.  How have you together brought glory to God?

Reflection Question: Jesus said, “The Father and I are one.” (V 30). How do you reconcile this statement with what you understand of God and Jesus?

Reflection Question: In this chapter, people have difficulty believing the healed blind beggar has changed and, yet, the proof is right before them. When others look at you, is it plain that God has touched your life? What would you say has changed about you?

Reflection Question: Jesus said, ‘You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.  And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (V 31-32).  What do you do to make sure you remain faithful to Jesus?

Reflection Question: The church leaders of Jesus’ time did not understand who he was.  How did you come to know that Jesus was truly from God?

Reflection Question: Jesus came to the frightened disciples in the middle of an impossible situation. Think of a storm in your life.  What difference did the presence of Jesus make? Does he continue to make a difference?

Reflection Question: The man beside the pool of Bethesda had been ill for 38 years.  Jesus asked him if he wanted to get well.  From what do you need to be healed?

Reflection Question: When the Samaritan woman learned she was in the presence of the Messiah, she ran to tell and many believed.  When have you been the most excited to tell about the Messiah?

Reflection Question: Jesus told Nicodemus that God’s light had come into the world, but people loved the darkness more than they loved the light.  Think of a time in your life when you leaned more toward the darkness than the light.  What was that experience like?

Reflection Question: ‘No one needed to tell [Jesus] about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart.’  (V 25, NLT). Is there anything in your heart you need to discuss with him?

Reflection Question: Do you see it there?  Jesus has always existed.  Everything was made through him.  He gave life to everything that was created.  He was.  He created. He came.  He will come again. What is He to you?

Reflection Question: After their eyes were opened, two travelers were amazed at the depth and power of the Scriptures, as Jesus explained them.  Can you think of a time when the Word of God has amazed you?

Reflection Question: The church leaders wanted to protect the church and the world from Jesus. Does this still happen today?  Where in the world is Jesus most visible?
